Let's talk histamine intolerance

As most of you know, histamine intolerance ruined my life.

At one point I was almost bedridden, I had symptoms of anxiety, shingles, psoriasis flares, feeling wired and tired at the same time, unable to drive from panic attacks, dizziness, drowsiness, brain fog, chronic daily migraines and headaches, and constant sinus congestion/ runny nose.

I woke up everyday never knowing if it was going to be a good day or a bad day.

It was no way to live but I soon came to realize I put myself in this situation. My histamine issues were triggered by being on birth control for 12 years, over-exercising and under-nourishing (cutting out tons of foods I thought were “bad”), and a stressful lifestyle, all this combined put my body into the perfect place with lowered resiliency to stress to react to a moldy apartment.

It all comes back to proper nutrition and giving your body the energy it needs to handle threats and stressors. A well nourished, less stressed body given a supply of nourishing foods (no blood sugar dips) is less likely to react to it's environment is such a volatile way.

Proper nutrition supports digestion, detoxification, liver, hormone production, you name it. It will protect you from environmental, physical, mental and toxic stressors.

Cells require nutrients to carry out these functions in the body. Every system in our body requires well functioning cells to produce energy and carry out their jobs. Metabolic health and bio-energetic nutrition (as I teach) is the cornerstone to vitality and kicking histamine intolerance.

The typical recommendation for histamine intolerance is cutting out foods high in histamine, which may be helpful but truly is only a bandaid if you are not getting to the root of why you have the histamine issues in the first place.

With root cause treatment we identify the perceived threat your body is reacting to through research of your case and lab testing.

By resolving the threats with nutrition, lifestyle and supplementation the body can relax and will no longer feel the need to overproduce histamine.

The excess histamine and inability to break it down is the problem, not histamine containing foods.
