Why is My Hair Thinning and/or Falling Out?

Have you noticed your hair just isn’t as full and vibrant as it used to be? Maybe you have noticed your hair is starting to shed more, finding it on your pillow or all over your shower?

When it comes to hair loss + thinning it is all about nourishing your cells to give those hair follicles enough energy to do their job. Producing hair is a high energy process.

“The cells in hair follicles produce hair when they are furnished with everything they need. But in the scalp of a balding man, they do not get everything they need and as a result, the hair producing cells gradually die off. Here we have an example of a mild “disease” caused by cellular malnutrition” - Williams

So what is “everything” you need for your cells to produce healthy hair follicles? A less stressed, nourished body!

Hair loss/thinning has everything to do with poor metabolic function: stress in all forms, nutrient deficiencies, poor digestion, hormonal imbalances, under-eating, and low carb diets.

Nutrient/mineral deficiencies caused by an improper diet, poor digestion, low HCL, SIBO or leaky gut. If your digestion sucks, your absorption sucks + if your nutrition sucks you can’t expect to be getting the nutrients + energy you need to actually be nourishing those hair follicles.

Where does that energy come from? Your main metabolic gland, the thyroid. What does the thyroid need to do it’s job? Lots of nutrients + in particular glucose/ sugar! Basically, if your metabolism is slow, your temp drops + you will suffocate your hair follicles.

And if our metabolism sucks we can’t possibly expect our hormones to be in balance. In comes excess estrogen + low progesterone. There is no coincidence that when women are pregnant they have lush beautiful hair as progesterone is high + then postpartum as estrogen, prolactin, + cortisol rise they loose their hair.

Notice that your hair loss started 3 months following a stressful event? Girl, you just burned through all your nutrients. A sure way to get hair follicles healthy + thriving is to support your metabolism with everything I preach: blood sugar balance, supporting your liver, estrogen detox, progesterone, address gut probs, + stress.
