Superior Foods vs. Inferior Foods
When it comes to nourishing your cells, balancing your hormones + healing your gut there are superior foods + inferior foods. No, these inferior foods are not inherently “bad” but here’s the deal…If I had a quarter for every time I heard someone day “Why do I feel worse or why am I not getting better eating ‘clean’ - my digestion sucks + my hormones are wack!”
There is no such thing as clean foods or dirty foods. There are however foods that supply your body with an abundance of energy, nutrients + minerals that it needs to thrive.
From a biological standpoint there are foods that are superior to others. And are you shook? It’s none of those foods society associates with eating “clean.”
When it comes to healing your metabolism, balancing your hormones, + fixing your digestion your body needs A LOT of energy. All of these processes are highly energy intensive.
Everything we put in our mouths sends a signal to our bodies about its external environment. Provide your body with loads of nuts and seeds your body will think you are trying to go into hibernation. Provide your body with loads of low energy foods like raw vegetables, your body will assume you are in a famine + not feel safe.
If you remember from biology class, our cells require minerals + nutrients to do their jobs. Unfortunately, you won’t get these from plant foods. Animal foods are FAR superior to plant foods. Plants contain anti-nutrients, PUFAS, heavy metals from the soils and tap water they are grown in, not to mention the nutrients are not as bio-available as animal foods and they can wreck havoc on your digestive tract.
Animal foods supply your body with bioavailable nutrients like amino acids, saturated fat, calcium, copper, zinc, Vitamin A, selenium, choline, B vitamins and the perfect combo of protein, carb and fat.
Don’t ditch all the inferior foods but pay attention to how they make you feel + incorporate more superior foods into your diet. It’s about balance but most of us have started making these inferior foods staples. It all comes down to nourishing your cells appropriately. Girlfriend, put down the bird food, last time I checked we were living breathing powerhouses.
