Before You Go Starving Yourself To Lose Weight, Consider Your Gut Health

Before you go cutting calories, starving yourself, killing yourself at the gym and joining the next best diet trend. I would consider taking a good hard look at your digestion and gut health.

And no, you do not need to be having “digestive issues” to have a fucked up gut microbiome. It can show up in so many different ways, one being weight gain or weight loss resistance.

Your gut microbiome is the community of bacteria, fungi, protazoa and viruses that live inside your gut. They play an important role in basically every process in the body from mental health to hormone signaling and everything in between, it determines how well you breakdown your food into nutrients to use for energy after all.

Your gut microbiome runs the show and it is directly affected by your diet and lifestyle.

The microbiome is complex but it is absolutely necessary to feed it correctly and not treat it poorly so that beautiful bacteria can do its job.

A diverse and nourished ecosystem helps to manage weight but a dysbiotic gut causes chronic imbalances and problems.

Studies show your gut microbiome has a direct effect on your physiology and metabolism.

Ever heard of fecal transplants? It’s basically inserting poop from someone who is a healthy weight and putting it in someone who is unwell or overweight to make them leaner and healthier. YUM!

In one study, the microbiome in obese mice could harvest more energy from food than their lean counterparts. They also found that this effect could be transmitted. Colonizing lean mice with microbiota from obese individuals significantly increased total body fat. This study shows that the gut microbiome plays an important role in weight.

9x out of 10 if my client is having weight gain or is not able to lose weight we run a GI Map address the issue and boom weight is no longer an issue.

What you choose to nourish your body with greatly impacts your gut and no i’m not just talking food.

What you choose to nourish your body with greatly impacts your gut and no i’m not just talking food. Stress, sleep, light, toxins, environment, happiness, all impact your gut!

If you are not able to get to the root cause with some stool analysis testing I would suggest a few things to start:

⫸ Stop eating while stressed out

⫸ Ditch processed/packaged foods

⫸ Eliminate PUFAs in all forms

⫸ Eliminate raw vegetables

⫸ Eliminate conventional gluten

Incorporate raw carrot salad, bone broths, gelatin, and collagen into your diet. And DIVERSIFY, don’t eat the same things everyday so you are feeding that bacteria everything they need to do their jobs.

Before you go cutting calories and starving yourself for weight loss in turn just ruining your metabolism even further consider looking into healing you gut. The reason there are so many diets out there is because they don’t work, shouldn’t we know this by now?

Nourished + happy bacteria = happy gut + healthy digestion.
