Animal protein sources are biologically appropriate and far superior to plant protein sources

Protein is not created equal and let’s stop pretending plant protein comes even close to what our body needs and requires or that eating plant-based is going to save the planet.

🙄

When I see RDs promoting a plant based heavy nut, seed, soy diet for women’s hormones I want to cringe. 🥴 It’s no surprise these women are practicing what they preach but feel like trash because they are severely under-nourished, and protein deficient. They can’t understand why their getting cyclical migraines and gaining weight yet their entire diet is pro- inflammatory, anti-thyroid and estrogenic.

We have to remember there will always be superior foods that our body can get the most energy from and quality animal sources are and always will be MVP.

What makes a food superior to another?

Digestibility
Absorbability
Nutrient-density

This is not to say to never have plant based protein sources. If you absolutely must – have them on occasion, cook them well, avoid packaged man-made garbage made in a laboratory, buy them in their natural form and seasonally, prepare them appropriately and know where they were grown.

And certainly do not try replace nutrient-dense animal protein with them. Prioritize animal proteins always (not just chicken 🫠).

If we want to save the planet we need to stop thinking soy and pea protein is the answer. Do yourself a favor and look up the farming practices of those crops. Yikes!

The future is not plant-based. It’s regenerative farming.

Your body is nutritionally demanding and requires lots of energy. We need to stop being brainwashed into thinking we can somehow thrive off foods that do not work for our physiology.

You live one life. Make it a good one. Eat foods that make sense and help you thrive!

What is your external appearance saying about your internal health?

Vibrancy is a sign of health.

One of the number one things you will start to notice as your internal environment starts to function better and you are fully nourishing yourself is your appearance starts to follow suit, you look healthier, more vibrant, younger and ALIVE.

It all comes down to energy.

Energy from minerals, carbs, protein and fat. We do not discriminate.

You can not expect your body to have enough energy to make you look good, let alone feel good if you are expecting to run off air.

Plump lips, nice skin tone, bright eyes, long full hair… These are nice-to-haves.

If your body is fighting to keep itself alive and its internal environment is struggling you bet it couldn’t give 2 shits about what you look like.

If you were properly nourishing yourself you wouldn’t be running to get the next botox, hair extensions, or fillers. Your body would provide.

This is why overtime, a dieting woman depriving herself of necessary nutrients looks like a dieting, deprived woman.

You are simply catering to your symptoms with restorative diets rather than fixing them.

A body that can ovulate and ovulate well.

A body that can eliminate excess estrogen without a hitch.

A body that can absorb and assimilate nutrients.

A body that can utilize glucose well.

A body that is less reactive and can handle stressors…

Are all signs of good health and your appearance will follow suit.

What is one thing you noticed has become more vibrant since you started nourishing yourself and not depriving yourself?

Your body will always choose survival over reproduction

1 in 5 women are unable to get pregnant after one year of trying.

Interesting enough almost all women have been depriving themselves of basic physiological needs and nourishment to meet societal norms and pressures. We were never taught about our bodies or fed and nourished as we should have been. We have all been under a chronic state of stress for most of our lives unbeknownst to us thinking this way of living is normal.

Running on stress can feel really good for awhile until you crash and you completely forget who you are. You are overly reactive, emotional, symptomatic, forgetful, and withdrawing from life.

Now is not the time to go on a diet or experiment with eliminating foods and food groups. Your body needs the exact opposite.

Start thinking about your life as an energy exchange. Everything you do requires energy. Just the very act of breathing and thinking requires energy in the form of minerals and nutrients when you are in survival mode or overly stressed your bodies energy needs increase.

In my practice we assess all the systems and organs in the body to determine where your body is most stressed and what has taken the biggest hit.

If it appears your reproductive health is struggling I highly suggest running full comprehensive blood panel with all 7 thyroid markers, a DUTCH hormone panel, HTMA and GI Map to cover all your bases. You will certainly want to run these labs at least 6 months to a year before trying to conceive and if not, start nourishing your body and paying attention to your health markers as outlined in the slides. Your body will never lie to you!

Red flags indicating your digestion is out of wack (that are not typical digestive symptoms)

“Laura, my digestion is totally fine!”

As their DUTCH test comes back with high estrogen, high cortisol and terrible detox pathways.

Their blood labs are indicating parasites and inflammation.

Their HTMA is not improving despite a rigorous personalized mineral balancing protocol and proper diet.

Most women in denial end up finding the most relief once they start focusing on gut health.

They start to absorb nutrients and minerals better, their periods and moods get better, their metabolic makers improve, they feel more clear headed and have more energy.

Repeat after me:

Most symptoms are a reflection of poor gut health even if your digestion seems “totally fine.”

Everything comes back to your gut.

BUT

Everything is connected.

Your metabolism runs the show for digestion but poor digestion can slow your metabolism.

Minerals are needed to support all the digestive processes but poor digestion can inhibit mineral absorption.

Poor digestion is seen as a stressor to the body and impacts your adrenals but chronic stress impacts your adrenals which impacts your digestion.

Your mineral status and digestion impact your mood and anxiety but anxiety and low moods can inhibit the absorption of minerals that impacts your digestion.

I know. Your head is spinning.

Bottom line. Your gut is only as healthy as the nourishment you are giving it.

I tend to see ‘gut experts’ recommending super restrictive diets, having people eliminate red meat and dairy because they are “inflammatory” and replace with things like beans and tofu, switch to gluten free alternatives like chickpea pasta, have you load your body with fiber, drink more plain water, all the nuts and seeds and raw vegetables, switch to nut milks and dairy free alternatives, take probiotics…This is a recipe for a digestive disaster.

Eliminating a bunch of nutrient-dense foods that we have been consuming since the dawn of time is unnecessary and won’t solve your problems and you will likely end up in a worse place than where you began.

Once you realize this and stop going down rabbit holes of what to eliminate next for xyz symptom suppression you will gain so much more freedom and clarity.

Your high cholesterol numbers are likely not because you eat red meat and saturated fat.

👆🏻👆🏻👆🏻

Actual footage of me ranting about the war on animal protein and saturated fat over my breakfast consisting of grass-fed beef and coffee with raw milk while I look over my perfect lab markers with zero signs of cardiovascular disease or high cholesterol.

Joking but kinda not.

Typically the reason limiting animal proteins or saturated fat may reduce your cholesterol numbers is due to the fact that you likely got scared and started making other positive lifestyle and diet changes that impacted your numbers overall. It had nothing to do with the elimination of red meat and saturated fat.

Keep in mind. If someone is pushing an agenda or are trying to become *Insta famous* they will 100% make it believable. Just because they have great speaking skills and can read a study doesn’t mean we can disregard human physiological needs for quality animal protein and saturated fats and our own individual needs.

As always, eat real food, innately listen to your body and do your best to find your way through the BS of this online space.

Oh and eat the meat and drink the dairy ✌🏼
