Are you no longer living because you’re too afraid of dying?

I remember one night when I was living in Chicago back in 2016 my parents were in town visiting so we went out to eat at the restaurant a few blocks over from my apartment.

We got to talking about my current obsession with health and my diet.

At the end of the conversation my mom says “why are you so scared of dying?”

Of course she did not mean that in the literal sense but more so

Why am I so scared to feel

Why am I so scared to have symptoms when it’s a natural part of life and healing

Why am I catering and revolving my entire life around my symptoms

That statement has always stuck with me and it took me a long time to realize I had stopped living my life because I was afraid of dying. I was scared to death of stressing out my body that I catered my entire world around it and began living in a bubble. A bubble that became very lonely and un-relatable except to the dieting, holistic online culture I was following.

At the time I thought it made sense and I was just being healthy. I thought you had to be strict with your diet and lifestyle to be healthy and symptom free or else you have no willpower and you are always going to be sick and weak.

I thought I was doing the “right” thing to heal.

You see, it’s really hard as a practitioner. I want my clients to feel better.

We are taught to help people feel better by putting them in a bubble, giving them strict diets, eliminate the “bad” foods to give their bodies a break, give them supplements to help with their symptoms. BUT I have never seen more growth in my clients than by having them to step out of their comfort zone and actually do the exact opposite. The more I have learned is this is all a bandaid.

Get scared, expose yourself to stressors, do the hard things, don’t take the convenient and easy route, get uncomfortable that is when real growth happens on a physical and mental level and your nervous system will adapt and get stronger.

We can support our bodies while also adapting and exposing ourselves to stressors and fears. Those two things do coexist and should coexist. You should not be living in a bubble catering to your discomfort.

You can take supplements to support your body when needed, you can do breath-work and have a diet that supports your physiology and nervous system but you can not live in fear of doing things that give you joy because you think it will stress your body further.

You do not need to eliminate every stressor, every food, and have a crazy strict diet to heal.

Is it true most of us are living in stressed state, yes. We are stressed about the mundane that we no longer are living and engaging in stressors that might give us joy and growth.

Change your mindset around stress, if you think you are going to be stressed out you will be.

Instead consider the stressor as a form of growth and watch magic happen.

Stress will only impact your health if you let it.

We are a generation deprived of nourishment

Since birth we have been fighting our bodies.

We have been dieting and restricting, some of us as early as middle school.

I remember my first time thinking I needed to change my body so I started skipping breakfast and lunch and then binging on processed garbage when I got home from school.

We all have our stories and traumatic experiences we have gone through and our nervous system still gets activated thinking about it years later no matter how much work you have done.

Most of us grew on some form of birth control because we thought that was just what you did.

We simply can’t avoid all the heavy metals we are exposed to on the daily. Our world is toxic.

Most of us have experimented with some form of trendy dieting that we screamed from the roof tops and would have fought to our death that it was healthy that in reality left us depleted and our metabolisms trashed.

We have all experimented with supplements thinking they would cure us of all our ailments cuz Karen said so on Instagram.

Every single one of us is struggling with poor digestive function in some capacity due to the above. Mark my words.

This is all stress.

Stress requires more energy and nutrients to keep our bodies thriving and symptom free.

Our bodies have taken huge hits over the years and we are being told by random experts to eat less and restrict or eliminate foods for todays beauty standards or to “heal.”

It’s coming at us from all angles. But you have the freedom to choose nourishment.

Take a little extra care of yourself, it’s a wild world out there!

Toxic advice in the holistic health space

Whew. I am exhausted just writing all that.

The more and more I work with women I see one common thing. Everyone is so damn stressed about what they should be doing for their health.

Thanks to social media and everyone needing to share their two cents. Health has never been more confusing.

Keep in mind that what influencers or practitioners share online is usually only 1/100th of the story or education behind a certain topic. Everything is nuance. We need to start looking at it through that lens.

One thing I know for sure is the alternative health space is ever changing.

Someone will debunk that same study you based your entire diet and life on.

There will always be ex vegans, ex intermittent fasters, ex carnivores, ex keto’ers’, ex vegetarians….

But you know what never goes out of style or needs to be debunked? Eating REAL traditional food. Nobody, not one person will say they are recovering from eliminating processed man man garbage and switching to eating real traditional food. Not a single person.

The biggest problem is education. A lot of the things we see online we question or partake in only because we don’t quite understand how our bodies work. Your best and most powerful superpower is learning how your body works, the food you are consuming, where it comes from and being your own health advocate.

If we all understood how our bodies worked and knew how to tune in we would not need to outsource our health. Once you understand how your body works and what it actually feels like to be nourished there is no looking back, you sniff the bullshit from a mile away.

Be aware, be intentional, health is not unattainable even tho it seems that way.

What does health mean to you?

I can assure it it’s not about obsessing over every little symptom and thing that might be causing said symptom and the next supplement or gadget that will help. Once you realize the healing journey is never over and your body will continue to show symptoms because shocking, YOU ARE ALIVE! Things start to make a lot more sense.

You will never biohack, supplement, fast, restrict food, avoid chemicals like the plague, breathe, meditate, cleanse your way back to health.

Your high cholesterol numbers are likely not because you eat red meat and saturated fat.

Joking but kinda not.

Typically the reason limiting animal proteins or saturated fat may reduce your cholesterol numbers is due to the fact that you likely got scared and started making other positive lifestyle and diet changes that impacted your numbers overall. It had nothing to do with the elimination of red meat and saturated fat.

Keep in mind. If someone is pushing an agenda or are trying to become *Insta famous* they will 100% make it believable. Just because they have great speaking skills and can read a study doesn’t mean we can disregard human physiological needs for quality animal protein and saturated fats and our own individual needs.

As always, eat real food, innately listen to your body and do your best to find your way through the BS of this online space.

A nourished woman with ancestral wisdom is a powerful force

Once you take your health into your own hands, finally feel nourished and healthy, understand how your body works, and begin tuning into your innate wisdom; how you were intended to eat and live without all the noise your entire world changes.

Everything becomes clearer.

You will fall in love with your life and food again.

You will stop seeking answers and second-guessing everything you do and eat.

Humans are constantly trying to outsmart nature but we are not and never will be smarter than nature. No science experiment or trial will EVER give you what nature provides and has been providing us for centuries.

Women have always been healers and have had innate wisdom to heal themselves and their families but now we look to “specialists” to tell us how we should be eating and living.

The modern world had done a great job at making us forget ourselves.

We are so disconnected from nature.

Living in concrete jungles alone in apartment buildings.

Sitting under blue light all day.

Most everyone is on medication to suppress symptoms.

We are eating processed garbage and “alternatives” to real food and fake meat.

We are now afraid of nourishing things like the sun, diary and meat.

We are working jobs we hate and our stress levels are high.

We are on this never ending battle with our bodies, questioning what is wrong with us, that we need to be fixed and our bodies are mistakes.

We are looking at the government to tell us how to eat and live.

Most of us will sadly never experience what its like walk barefoot on a forest floor, have a community of like-minded women in our corner, buy meat from a local regenerative farmer, drink raw milk, never need to rely on a medication, spend your days in nature, what it feels like to feel truly satiated.

Understand what it’s like to find true peace and nourishment in your body.

This should not be privilege. This should be our life.

Ancestral nourishment will give you your life back. When women thrive and feel at peace in their life and their body they become unstoppable.

Do the best you can in this world we live in. Reconnect with yourself and your innate ancestral wisdom whatever that looks like for you.
