Your Mineral Status Determines Your Mental + Emotional Health

I know. I sound like a complete nut job.

But what if I told you your mineral levels, ratios + patterns reflect your thoughts, emotions, + behavior.

More often than not, when looking at a clients HTMA results I can determine exactly how their personality + mental health is simply based off their results before even speaking to them.

Minerals are the spark plugs of life. They give every cell in your body energy while also helping your body naturally detox. Minerals are required for every process in the body. Repeat that, REQUIRED FOR EVERY SINGLE PROCESS IN THE BODY.

And where do minerals come from? The food that we eat.

I’m not trying to be an asshole when I talk about superior foods over inferior foods but there is a reason for it. I want you to live your happiest life FULL of all the minerals you need to do so and some foods are just more nutrient dense than others. That’s fact.

The mind-body connection is real. The mind can heal itself of many emotional wounds when it receives what it needs nutritionally and when toxins are released from the brain.

The brain is a biochemical organ. A reduced level fo adaptive energy, high or low blood sugar, and all other stressors affect the brain much more than they affect the body.

High energy and high vitality = adequate mental activity.

If energy is low the body will suppress and block feelings, memories, perceptions, and mental activity.

Your vitality/energy level has an influence on your overall outlook to life.

What causes minerals imbalances, deficiencies and overload?
+ long-term stress
+ heavy metals + toxins
+ tap/well water
+ chemical-laden food supply
+ PUFAs
+ unhealthy lifestyle + eating habits
+ dieting (vegan, keto, etc..)
+ under-eating
+ eliminating foods groups
+ digestive dysfunction
+ supplements (especially vitamin D, ascorbic acid and zinc)

Are you coping with low energy? Eat girl, just fucking eat.

For those of you restricting for weight loss. I hate to break it to you but if you’re miserable AF to be around because your minerals are wack but you “look good” it might be time to re-evaluate.

A fed woman is a happy, stable woman.

8 Reasons Why You Can’t Seem To Tolerate Carbs

Girl, I will say it over and over again. It is NOT the carbs fault.

If you find that you can’t tolerate carbs whether they make you tired, they cause gas and bloating, or weight gain it is not the carbs fault but an underlying reason to WHY your cells are not able to use glucose for energy in the first place

If we can’t use carbs well, we need to address our body as a whole. Going low carb to fix insulin resistance only leaves you more insulin resistant. WE NEED CARBS! Our bodies main source of energy is glucose after all!

Let’s talk about the hormone insulin real quick. First of all, insulin is not bad, it in fact helps glucose (sugar) get into our cells to use for energy.
.
Where it goes wrong: your body starts over producing insulin when you are under chronic stress. Eventually your cells stop responding to these high stress demands and become resistant to insulin overtime. Your body produces higher amounts of cortisol (the stress hormone) which makes your cells resistant to insulin. When this happens too much sugar builds up in the blood instead of being used by our cells. Insulin resistance simply means your cells are having a hard time absorbing glucose.

What causes chronic stress? All of the above. Let’s take a look.

Minerals like magnesium, potassium, calcium, copper, + sodium are needed to let blood sugar into the cell and are necessary for thyroid function.

All carbs are not created equal. Focus on roots, tubers, dairy + fruit.

Always pair carbs with a protein + fat. Fructose, the sugar found in fruit helps us use glucose from starchy carbs like potatoes better. Consider pairing the two.

Excess estrogen will cause the pancreas to over produce insulin, so you can’t burn fat efficiently. Also leading to low progesterone, the hormone needed to balance blood sugar.

Eating loads of PUFA’s interferes with cell signaling inhibiting the conversion to glycogen.

Bacterial overgrowth in the gut causes inflammation + deficiencies worsening insulin resistance.

Studies show a direct correlation with fluoride + insulin + it impacts the way our cells take in glucose.

All our problems can be brought back to our relationship with carbs and how we use them.

Do You Struggle with Health Anxiety?

Do you find yourself running to google or to the doctors every time your body feels a bit off or you’re experiencing some mysterious symptom? Always constantly worrying that your minor, chronic or uncomfortable symptom is a sign of something life-threatening.

I’ve been there. When I was dealing with unexplained digestive issues years ago there wouldn’t be a day I wasn’t either making a doctors appointment or googling some symptom I was experiencing.

Health anxiety. It’s real. Health anxiety is an obsessive and irrational worry about having a serious medical condition. And in most cases, this constant worry and anxiety only contributes to your symptoms, so much so, it makes it near impossible for your body to heal and get better. The mind is powerful y’all!

Are you in the constant guessing game of why you can’t lose weight, why you have headaches or digestive issues, why you’re always so damn tired, why your anxiety and depression is through the roof, why you’re so moody, why your periods are not normal or why your skin is acting up? Well I can assure you, none of these mean you have some incurable physical ailment as much as google wants to tell you that you do! These are symptoms that your body is out of balance and there very well could just be some nutrition and lifestyle changes that need to take place for you to feel better!

A lot of my clients come to me after they have exhausted all the other resources. They have had ALL the doctors appointments, all the testing done and they certainly have spent their fair share of time on google, just to be left with nothing but a prescription for anxiety or whatever symptom they are experiencing that they don’t want to take.

So my job as a Functional Nutritional Therapy Practitioner is taking away that health anxiety and the constant worrying/ guessing game of trying to figure out what your body is trying to tell you.

After our consultation you will be given an in-depth protocol and helpful resources with nutrition and lifestyle recommendations that work for your unique body to bring you back into balance and feeling good again. Nine times out of ten when working with clients I am able to eliminate the stress from the health anxiety and worry allowing their bodies to heal and feel better.

Is this you? Do you struggle with health anxiety?
