Blood sugar monitors do not work for your female physiology and jumping on this bandwagon will likely be more harmful than helpful.
Checking your blood sugar markers all day everyday won’t fix your blood sugar issues.
Here’s the deal.
You get a fancy blood sugar monitor and realize you are having a lot of spikes after your meals. You start spiraling thinking you are pre-diabetic. You’re eliminating foods, carbs and fasting and all around just spinning your wheels trying to get your blood sugar perfect.
What if I told you you will likely never achieve perfect because of your unique physiology and the 42 other factors that could be impacting your numbers?
Keep in mind most women’s hormonal issues come from LOW blood sugar and the constant blood sugar rollercoaster we put our bodies under due to waiting too long to eat. LOW blood sugar is not discussed enough.
We starve ourselves and then when we eat we get a blood sugar spike and think there is something wrong with us. Nope. Your body is doing what it needs to do to keep you alive due to negligence.
Rather than focusing on what food or meal is causing a blood sugar spike get the foundations in place and if you decide you truly need a blood sugar monitor based off blood work then work with someone that can analyze the results with you otherwise you will just drive yourself mad and end up in a worse place than where you started.
Slapping a blood sugar monitor on someone that has no healthy habits or foundational nutrition in place makes zero sense.
The goal is to have stable blood sugar while eating carbs of all kinds.
That is true metabolic flexibility.
Your body is intelligent. It knows exactly what to do. Stop giving up your own innate wisdom for fads.

I’ve got 99 problems but healing my digestive system solved like 98 of them

Most of you have heard my story. The reason I became a nutritionist was because I healed my digestive system and in turn every other symptom or ‘diagnosis’ I had. My clients will likely tell you the same.

Skin probs? Get your gut in check.
Thyroid issues? Get your gut in check.
Hormones wack? Get your gut in check.
I made all the mistakes and tried all the restrictive therapeutic diets hoping to see some relief but only got worse. None of these diets are sustainable and the second I tried adding foods back in I would react with a massive histamine shit storm, as any body would after restricting foods and food groups for a period of time.
I now can confidently say I eat all foods, animals and plants without any repercussions. As a human should.
WE ARE OMNIVORES.
This is why I will forever be passionate that therapeutic diets are detrimental and will never get to the root of your problems but will likely create a more unhealthy environment in the long run.
PS. That is what ALL diets are, they were created to help those with chronic diseases and symptoms like seizures short term, not long term use by an average human being.

Is your masculine energy impacting your hormones?

The constant need to get shit done and GO GO GO can lead to pushing ourselves too hard at the gym and work, skipping meals, creating poor sleep habits, and making poor food choices. This can lead to blood sugar issues, adrenal burnout and a cascade of hormonal issues.
Unfortunately, in some cases this masculine energy can make you start to ignore your menstrual cycle or want to eliminate it completely with birth control so you can keep on keeping on without discomfort or feelings.

This is creating a disconnection to your female body.
Masculine energy makes you feel disconnected from emotions, base your worth on material success, tend to have poor communication skills to build deep relationships and makes you feel isolated and unsupported.
Feminine energy you let projects develop at a natural pace while enjoying the creative process, you love to create community and work with others, you connect to your emotions and you relate with others by listening and sharing.
The key is balancing the two, this new idea being pushed of what feminism means and the ongoing push to be the ultimate “boss babe” in competition with others has come at the consequences of our health.

The majority of women ages 16-65 are unknowingly struggling with estrogen dominance
How many times have you said “It must be hormonal.” Ehhh likely not.
Like I always say. Your hormonal issues are not actually hormonal.
Hormones are downstream, you never ever address hormones first. And if someone recommends aggressive supplements like DIM without considering your lifestyle, digestion, thyroid, cortisol and minerals RUN!
I am seeing younger and younger woman suffering with estrogen dominance symptoms. Girls as early as 9 starting their periods and women going through menopause at 40. Most children being born estrogenic from birth.
Women suffering with painful, heavy periods, cysts, fibroids, sore breasts, migraines, headaches, PMS, anxiety, depression, mood swings, weight gain, bloating and low libido. Breast cancer is at an all time high.
We live in a highly estrogenic world and it’s only getting worse. Our environment is flooded, our food supply and water is no longer safe, all our personal care and cleaning products are bombarded. We are now injecting and putting toxic substances in our bodies all for some made up beauty standard or cultural norm. All at the sake of our health and thyroids.
We are working jobs we hate and spending days under fluorescent and blue light screens rather than outdoors.
We are all so stressed out that we can’t even make dinner for ourselves or think about all the other things that might be impacting our health. Looking for quick fixes.
We are transitioning to eating fake man-made foods, most of us consuming them our whole lives through processed garbage. None of this works with our physiology and is impacting our digestion, minerals and health.
Our lifestyles and diets are trash. We are no longer living true to ourselves and being bombarded with conveniences that are harming us.
And we are experiencing green washing at an all time high. Companies are allowed to call things organic, safe, or clean when they are far from. No regulations.
Some of these things we simply can’t change but you can certainly start supporting your body nutritionally to become more resilient. Get back to nature, eat real food, avoid the cultural norms “they” have created. It doesn’t have to be this way.
