Let’s talk histamine intolerance

As most of you know, histamine intolerance ruined my life.

At one point I was almost bedridden, I had symptoms of anxiety, shingles, psoriasis flares, feeling wired and tired at the same time, unable to drive from panic attacks, dizziness, drowsiness, brain fog, chronic daily migraines and headaches, and constant sinus congestion/ runny nose.

I woke up everyday never knowing if it was going to be a good day or a bad day.

It was no way to live but I soon came to realize I put myself in this situation. My histamine issues were triggered by being on birth control for 12 years, over-exercising and under-nourishing (cutting out tons of foods I thought were “bad”), and a stressful lifestyle, all this combined put my body into the perfect place with lowered resiliency to stress to react to a moldy apartment.

It all comes back to proper nutrition and giving your body the energy it needs to handle threats and stressors. A well nourished, less stressed body given a supply of nourishing foods (no blood sugar dips) is less likely to react to it’s environment is such a volatile way.

Proper nutrition supports digestion, detoxification, liver, hormone production, you name it. It will protect you from environmental, physical, mental and toxic stressors.

Cells require nutrients to carry out these functions in the body. Every system in our body requires well functioning cells to produce energy and carry out their jobs. Metabolic health and bio-energetic nutrition (as I teach) is the cornerstone to vitality and kicking histamine intolerance.

The typical recommendation for histamine intolerance is cutting out foods high in histamine, which may be helpful but truly is only a bandaid if you are not getting to the root of why you have the histamine issues in the first place.

With root cause treatment we identify the perceived threat your body is reacting to through research of your case and lab testing.

By resolving the threats with nutrition, lifestyle and supplementation the body can relax and will no longer feel the need to overproduce histamine.

The excess histamine and inability to break it down is the problem, not histamine containing foods.

Women function best in a well-fed state

Alright ladies, listen up.

Your body will always fight for homeostasis and whether you like it or not your body requires carbs. How much? That is up to your discretion and individual needs.

It is no coincidence that women come to me trying to recover from their years of restriction and low carb dieting after it stops working *SHOCKING* 🙃

They are now putting on the weight they lost, their thyroids are trashed, minerals tanked and they put their bodies into a hyper reactive state reacting to everything they are putting in their mouths.

Mark my words. Any diet that discriminates against a macro group will go down as the most detrimental diets in history (especially for women). I’m talking to you keto, carnivore, low carbers!

Rather than doing something drastic because “carbs are causing xyz_” have you ever thought maybe you need to adjust your macro ratios and the types/quality of carbs you are eating based on how you live your life?

Repeat after me.

EACH MACRO HAS A PURPOSE!

How your body uses those macros is determined by your current state of health and the life you live.

Poor sleep? Long hike? Strength training? Stressful day of work? Laying in the sun? Poor digestion? THESE are all factors that effect your energy needs and how you will use said energy.

Something I know for sure is a healthy woman that understands her body is a woman that can utilize all macros; carbs, proteins and fats for energy effortlessly.

Imagine that? What freedom.

8 Things To Actually Give a Sh*t About Besides Your Weight

Newsflash.

There has never been a study showing that weight is the problem. Weight does not determine your worth or your status of health.

The best weight for you is one where your body feels warm and comfortable all the time, your cycles are painless and uneventful, your happy and enjoy life, you have a robust amount of energy, you have successful bowel movements and your skin and hair are strong and clear.

Once you start focusing on these biomarkers rather than the number on the scale magic will happen, you WILL find your happy weight and you WILL feel good.

Spending half your life caught up and stressed out over 10-15 pounds is no way to live.
.
You may love how you look but you hate how you feel and chances are you are depriving yourself of nourishment and joy.

I don’t know about you but id rather be happy, healthy and a little fluffy than cold, skinny and sick.

✖️Pulse: 75-90 beats per minute all day long.
.
✖️Temperature: 97.8 F when waking and 98.6 F mid-day (with a rise in temperature when ovulating). Your hands and feet should be warm all day and you should be comfortable.
.
✖️Period + Sex Drive: A healthy cycle is 28-32 days long (can vary), a 3-5 day period (not too heavy, not too light), a pink/red color, minimal mood swings and pms, ovulating every month, no pain, cramping or sore breasts, and a robust sex drive.
.
✖️Hair, Skin, + Nails: Hair should be shiny, full and smooth (not dry or greasy), skin should look healthy and clear, and nails should be strong.
.
✖️Bowel Movements + Urination: we should be having bowel movements at least once a day, three max. They should be easy to pass and a perfect bristol #3. Undigested food, loose or hard to pass bowel movements, excessive gas and funky colors are not normal. We should be urinating 5 times a day (not 10) while still drinking 1/2 our body weight in oz of water.
.
✖️Energy + Mood: we should be energized all day and not need a stimulant to keep us awake, we should be sleeping 7-8 hours a night without interruptions (not 5 or 10 hours), and we should feel happy and have a zest for life!
