The Dangers of Soy, Flax, and Plant Estrogens

The medical industry can skew any study, review, or research depending on what their intention is and what will be the most profitable.

The saddest part.

We are all being played.

How many times have you heard that soy + flax are fantastic for your hormones?

I’l never forget the day I walked into the ND office riddled with estrogen symptoms and was told to add more soy and cruciferous vegetables and seed cycle with flax, as well as take DIM supplement. After I had already been on the birth control pill for 12 years. Holistic healthcare can be dangerous.

Here’s the deal. We live is a highly estrogenic world. We are all ridden with estrogen and most of our hormonal problems come back to an imbalance between estrogen and progesterone.

If you were vegan, fed soy milk or formula as a baby, seed cycled for “hormone balance” took birth control pills or bio-identical estrogen, added flax to your smoothies, took DIM supplements, and ate all the plant estrogens this is not to scare you!

You know better you do better. First step. Knock it off.

Next step. Evaluate your estrogen burden.

That includes the phytoestrogens above as well as those found in skincare, makeup, tap water, plastics, cooking utensils, cleaning supplies, etc…

Third step. Eat a metabolically supporting diet that works for YOUR physiology, address mineral imbalances and get your gut in check.

Girlfriend, you are smarter than this.

Stop being fooled into thinking this garbage will balance your hormones. Your body knows best, really truly listen to it. I can guarantee it’s not jumping for joy every time you give it that man made soy milk or vegan burger and that flax seed waste product.

Nutrients/Support Needed On A Plant Based Diet

It’s no secret that a plant- based diet is filled with anti-nutrients, heavy metals, estrogens, and high in PUFAs. Plants are also not nearly as bio-available as a traditional animal-based seasonal diet. Throw in the highly processed plant-based meat/dairy alternatives and you have yourself a malnourished, toxic shit storm. It is also no secret that humans on a plant-based diet end up with anxiety, depression, acne, increased aging, digestive issues, hormonal probs due to all the nutrient deficiencies and imbalances it creates. I see it everyday in my practice. Humans were designed to eat seasonally the way nature intended. The idea that we would consume plants all year long is due to modern availability. And shocker but most plants and cruciferous vegetables are man-made, nature never intended for you to eat them in abundance in the first place. Guess what is available all year long in all areas of the world? Animal derived foods like meat, dairy, and eggs. Fruits and vegetables should be eaten seasonally. Why? Because this is how nature intended for us to eat. Animals have different stomaches to break down toxins and absorb nutrients from plants so we don’t have to. We live in a highly influenced world were people only have the desire to be thin and everyone just wants to be something, they want to be seen, they want to have a label, and sometimes that involves a diet label – these desires are interfering with our physiology as humans. But Laura, I feel so good on a plant based diet (a girl covered in acne, anxiety ridden, bloated, a slave to her digestive system and missing her period) Keep in mind there is a big difference between fat loss, muscle loss and your body eating itself + artificially suppressing symptoms. People think plant-based diets “saved them”, keep telling yourself that, hit me up in a few years. Eating should be simple, intuitive and traditional as it always was before diets and the industrial revolution decided to fuck things up. It shouldn’t take a scientist to turn plants into things they were never intended to be. Stop fighting your physiology and eat according to nature.

Is Your Cell Phone Making You Fat

You wake up and the first thing you do is start scrolling and before you know it time has gone by and your morning routine or workout plans are out the window. Hell, you can’t even go pee mid day without bringing it with you to scroll for those .2 seconds. You cook dinner and scroll. You spend the whole rest of your night scrolling, ditching any plans you had to read, stretch, walk, or be present with family. You get into bed and scroll. And you wake up just to do it all over again. It all comes back to cortisol baby! Not only is social media creating false beliefs that you need to lose weight due to its unrealistic filters and highlight reels creating negative thoughts about your body. These constant thoughts of being unworthy are stressful. But then let’s add some fuel to the already stressed out fire with those EMF’s and constant blue light exposure (that clearly were not created with our physiology in mind) and we have ourselves a wildfire. Cortisol is released when you’re under stress. This sends your body into fight-or-flight mode, temporarily pausing regular bodily functions and slowing your metabolism. While this hormone is essential to survival, it can become harmful in excess amounts. “Laura, I’m doing all the right things but I can’t lose weight.” Says the woman that is up on her cell phone and lap top all hours of the night or can’t get her shit together because her phone is impeding on routines and habits. “I have to be up, it’s the only time I have for myself, is there a supplement I can take to help with the stress hormones?” No. I don’t care if you are wearing 3 pairs of blue blockers and taking stress reducing adaptogens. You are not addressing the problem in the first place. Blue light blockers don’t give you permission. Evaluate do you really need to lose weight or are you running into the comparison trap on social media. I can guarantee its the latter. Take away social media for 30 days, a week, or just unfollow those people that are making you feel less than and see how much your life, health and thoughts around your weight change. Perhaps losing weight has everything to do with false expectations, influence + habits.

What Doctors Tell You About Birth Control vs. What it Actually Does

I remember the day I walked into the doctors office to get my yearly exam before going off to college. She told me I should go on birth control “just incase” Just incase what? Talk about scaring the shit out of a new freshman heading off on her own for the first time.

I know you’ve been there. Whether it was for acne, period pain, PMS, endo, PCOS, heavy periods… You once were told it would solve all your problems.

I was told birth control was safe and effective and came with zero consequences. 🙄

Excuse me?! You’re telling me that taking synthetic hormones comes with zero consequences? 🤔I wish I knew better.

I also wish I knew you can not get pregnant all month long and birth control will not fix symptoms and coming off would be a real bitch.

Here’s the deal:

Birth control is lab made + synthetic, the period you get on birth control is not a real period, it stops ovulation and completely over-rides your natural hormonal rhythm.

It’s a HUGE stressor, your body is working extra hard at trying to detox the synthetic hormones.

It increases your risk of breast cancer and even comes with a warning label. THE ISDA considers synthetic estrogen and progestin a carcinogen.

It depletes you of so many necessary minerals and nutrients. You can probably trace any and all symptoms you are experiencing to mineral deficiencies. Every process in your body especially your thyroid and adrenals need lots and lots of nutrients to do their jobs.

It contains up to 75mg of iron per pill. We only need 1mg iron from food per day due to our amazing recycling system. Talk about iron overload.

It contributes to copper “toxicity” which depletes you even further of necessary minerals. Copper dysregulation is a huge contributor to female related health issues.

One of the biggest offenders that alters your gut microbiome is medications. They directly disrupt our normal gut flora and make us more susceptible to bacterial over growth and yeast and contributes to further nutrient deficiencies.

Birth control starts a symptomatic cascade shit storm. There are other ways to prevent pregnancy and get to the root cause of your symptoms rather than using a bandaid.

How To Actually Balance Your Hormones

I get it.

I’ve been told…

“Fasting is good for you + helps with weight loss + hormonal imbalances”

“Cruciferous veggies everyday will help with estrogen”

“Seed cycling is a great tool to regulate hormones”

“Plant based eating is necessary if you want to feel better, ditch red meat and dairy, it’s inflammatory”

“Low carb will help with your insulin resistance and weight loss goals”

“Work out as much as possible! Oh and make sure it’s fasted in the morning to burn what you ate the night prior”

“Maybe you should try eating 1200 calories a day, you will def lose weight and feel great”

WHAT DA FUCK.

After many trials + errors I realized none of this shit was working and if anything I felt worse. Who’s been there?

Animal foods are far superior to plant foods when it comes to nutrient density. Most plants are estrogenic, depleted of nutrients, heavy metal ridden and contain anti-nutrients. When it comes to hormonal health, it’s all about minerals and nutrients.

Low carb diets only make you more insulin resistant and does not fix the problem of why glucose can’t get into your cells in the first place. And nobody tells you after you are fed up with your unsustainable low carb diet and try to come out of it you will continue to be insulin resistant until you figure out WHY.

Seeds used in seed cycling (sunflower, flax, pumpkin) are PUFAs, they are already denatured by the time they get to store shelves, create oxidative stress + a toxic storm in your 98 degree body. Why in the F are we adding more fuel to the already estrogen dominant fire? Add some toxic makeup, skincare, cleaning products, etc.. and BOOM.

Fasting in the morning? Fasted workouts? Sure why not continue kindling that hormonal shit storm fire. Fasting as a woman + especially fasted workouts are extremely stressful on the body. What is the root cause to almost all hormonal woes? STRESS.

Cruciferous veggies! PILE THEM UP! 3x per day, docs orders! I’m totally down for thyroid induced coma!

1200 calories, sure I’l try it! Let’s see if I can get my already sluggish metabolism just a little bit more sluggish. I think that will solve my problems, but hey I’l be skinny!
