birthcontrol

The ultimate form of rebellion

The global contraceptive market is projected to grow from $17.50 billion in 2022 to $28.81 billion by 2029, at an annul growth rate of 7.4% . – Fortune Business Insight

One of the best things we can do for the future generation and our daughters is to bring back the idea that our cycles are sacred and teach our daughters how to track and become more in tune with their bodies.

If we started honoring our cycles, eating a traditional diet from day one and did not go on birth control to mask our symptoms or get rid of our periods all together we would all be in a different state of health to this day. Birth control is a carcinogen and it’s being handed out like candy when we have a free, easy method we can use that works with our bodies, not against them.

The three primary signs of ovulation:

BASAL BODY TEMP

Take your temperature every morning upon waking in bed the second you wake up. You will notice a shift in your waking temperature a couple days before ovulation this confirms the egg has been released. Your temps will be heightened after ovulation until your period, this confirms you are producing progesterone, have ovulated and are now in the clear.

CERVICAL MUCOUS

• After menstruation: dry
• Approaching ovulation: wet + copious
• Ovulation: egg white, stretchy, lubricative + clear
• Peak fertility day = last day of egg white cervical fluid
• Dryer = Less fertile, Wetter = More fertile

CERVICAL POSITION

• Check your cervix a few days prior to ovulation and after ovulation.
• Not fertile = it will feel like a firm round dimple
• Fertile = it will feel softer, higher and open

Tips for getting started naturally tracking your cycles:

+ Keep a log of your markers everyday in an app
+ Check your temps and mucus everyday! Ovulation strips might be helpful at first.
+ Give yourself 3-6 months and use other barrier methods during this time of learning.
+ Get the book Taking Charge of Your Fertility. I highly suggest every mom gift their daughter this book!

Let’s get back nature ladies, our bodies are not mistakes. The lives we are living and the lack of knowledge we are given about our unique female physiology is the mistake.

The best kept anti-aging secret: A healthy menstrual cycle

Girlfriend put down the fancy expensive creams, the botox, and the lip injections.

Your menstrual cycle holds the power!

Or should I say ovulation! It’s the true MVP of your cycle. Keep in mind. You can still bleed and not be ovulating that is why tracking through BBT, cervical mucus and cervix position is key.

But you can only achieve ovulation if you are honoring your cycle and nourishing all month long.

We live in a world where we are handed birth control (a carcinogen) like it’s candy starting as young as 14, shutting down our natural cycles, hormone production and ovulation. Depleting us of vital nutrients and minerals.

I work with women in their 40’s that are just now learning their cycles and have never once had a natural cycle or know if they have ever ovulated.

We are told our diets and lifestyles have nothing to do with our symptoms and increased aging when in fact they are absolutely the biggest and #1 driving factor especially considering a healthy robust ovulation and regular menstrual cycle requires a lot of energy and nutrients.

We are told we only need to be ovulating and having a cycle if we want to get pregnant and progesterone is only the “pregnancy hormone.” When in fact we have progesterone receptors throughout our entire body impacting how we feel physically and mentally.

Our bodies are bombarded with pro-aging, stressful, estrogens in our environment and food leaving most of us estrogen dominant and progesterone deficient.

Estrogen is not the bad guy and actually is just as important but only when in proper balance with progesterone.

Watch your body transform to looking more nourished with glowing skin, fuller hair, less wrinkles and fine lines, and plumper lips when you are fully nourishing yourself and honoring your cycles through blood sugar balance, a vitamin and mineral rich diet, and stress reduction.

Side note.

Can we please stop bragging about how nice it is that we no longer have a period, whether it be from birth control or self-induced through under-nourishment, over-exercising or stress.

We need our natural cycles ladies!

The Three Most Common Birth Control Methods

You know the all too familiar story.

You walk into your gyno. Maybe you just went in for a yearly check up, maybe you are dealing with some hormonal symptoms, maybe you have PMS, PCOS or endometriosis… Whatever it may be they probably asked if you wanted to go on birth control + gave you your options.

Problems is, a lot of us go on birth control + never actually understand what the heck it is doing to our bodies or how it even works in the first place to prevent pregnancy.

This is a BIG problem in our society. We have to understand the whole reason we have a menstrual cycle + this beautiful female body is for pregnancy! Baby, we were born this way! Every month our body works hard to get to ovulation + get that sperm to meet that egg! That’s the whole point of our biology and even if you are not looking to get pregnant it is still important to have a functioning, healthy menstrual cycle.

Unfortunately, birth control shuts down this process. Here I am going to discuss the 3 most popular forms of birth control + how they actually work to prevent pregnancy.

Each method of birth control works in a different way.

ONE: it prevents the sperm from getting to the egg by discouraging your body to release eggs- basically it makes the uterus an unsafe environment for the sperm to want to meet the egg.

TWO: it stops the brain to ovary connection so that you can not ovulate by effing up your hormones.

⫸ The Pill:

The pill comes in two forms the progestin only pill + the combo pill with estrogen + progestin (this is the one I was on for 12 years). These are synthetic + not the same as the hormones we naturally make. Basically the pill works by shutting down ovulation, it stops communication between the brain + ovaries. In this case, your hormones don’t fluctuate like they should during the month so you don’t get to reap the benefits of ovulation + progesterone. The bleed you experience is not a real bleed.

⫸ Copper IUD:

This is a non-hormonal form of birth control. This works by creating a toxic environment so the sperm can’t meet the egg. Keep in mind copper and estrogen have an intimate relationship and this could be contributing to estrogen dominance symptoms. It can also cause zinc, iron and mineral imbalances since you are directly absorbing the copper.

⫸ Hormonal IUD:

These only contain synthetic progesterone. It works by thickening your mucous to prevent the sperm from meeting the egg or entering the cervix in the first place. This one does not always shut down ovulation, it does however still work similar to the Copper IUD and prevent an unsafe environment for the sperm to meet the egg.

I hope this was informative and will empower you to make decisions regarding your reproductive and fertility health.

What if I told you that you could skip the birth control all together and eliminate your monthly symptoms with proper nutrition and lifestyle?

In my Group Coaching Program, Wild + Well Fed, I am teaching a lesson all about the menstrual cycle, estrogen dominance and detoxing excess estrogen, boosting progesterone naturally, cycle syncing and birth control!

Tell me, have you been on any of these forms of birth control? Where you informed on how they work?
