Y’all I finally perfected the crisp! I have been experimenting with different types of gluten free, “healthier” crisps for awhile now and FINALLY found the winner!
This past weekend we went to an organic u-pick farm right outside of Portland and got a mixture of honey crisp and gala apples, these just so happen to be my favorite! These apples are naturally a little sweeter so I only needed to sweeten the crisp with a little bit of maple syrup and some brown sugar topping. Lower sugar, gluten free and delicious! I did good! I also love this recipe cold too! As a kid, I could really get down on some pastries. I’m talking those Hostess apple fruit pies that you get at a convenience store… You know the ones, the main ingredients were corn syrup, sugar, and more sugar, maybe enriched with synthetic vitamins to make up for the lack of nutrients. Ew. Anyways, eating this crisp cold gives me all the feels of these pastries and I AM HERE FOR IT! .
