Let’s talk histamine intolerance

As most of you know, histamine intolerance ruined my life.

At one point I was almost bedridden, I had symptoms of anxiety, shingles, psoriasis flares, feeling wired and tired at the same time, unable to drive from panic attacks, dizziness, drowsiness, brain fog, chronic daily migraines and headaches, and constant sinus congestion/ runny nose.

I woke up everyday never knowing if it was going to be a good day or a bad day.

It was no way to live but I soon came to realize I put myself in this situation. My histamine issues were triggered by being on birth control for 12 years, over-exercising and under-nourishing (cutting out tons of foods I thought were “bad”), and a stressful lifestyle, all this combined put my body into the perfect place with lowered resiliency to stress to react to a moldy apartment.

It all comes back to proper nutrition and giving your body the energy it needs to handle threats and stressors. A well nourished, less stressed body given a supply of nourishing foods (no blood sugar dips) is less likely to react to it’s environment is such a volatile way.

Proper nutrition supports digestion, detoxification, liver, hormone production, you name it. It will protect you from environmental, physical, mental and toxic stressors.

Cells require nutrients to carry out these functions in the body. Every system in our body requires well functioning cells to produce energy and carry out their jobs. Metabolic health and bio-energetic nutrition (as I teach) is the cornerstone to vitality and kicking histamine intolerance.

The typical recommendation for histamine intolerance is cutting out foods high in histamine, which may be helpful but truly is only a bandaid if you are not getting to the root of why you have the histamine issues in the first place.

With root cause treatment we identify the perceived threat your body is reacting to through research of your case and lab testing.

By resolving the threats with nutrition, lifestyle and supplementation the body can relax and will no longer feel the need to overproduce histamine.

The excess histamine and inability to break it down is the problem, not histamine containing foods.

9 things I would go back and tell my younger self about health and nutrition

Let’s come together and teach our daughters that their bodies were not mistakes. Teach our daughters to love their bodies. That they don’t need to be altered. That by denying and erasing the body they were given they are denying where they came from, their mother. Teach our daughters how to tune in to their bodies, menstrual cycles, intuition and emotions. Teach our daughters how to cook, move their body and properly nourish themselves for health, not a body size. Allow them to have fun, play and relax and never lose sight of who they are. We have the ability to change the trajectory of our future generation. Most of us are starting to wake up and it’s a beautiful thing. What is one thing you would go back and tell your younger self? 👇🏻

The 6 biggest mistakes women make when trying to balance their hormones

Anytime a woman does not feel good or shows an inkling of emotion the blame is put on hormones. Apparently women are not allowed to feel unwell or show feelings or emotions without being told they are hormonal.

I appreciate the acknowledgement that women have different physiology than men. Truly I do but that does not make us hormonal wrecks.

In fact, your hormone problems are not related to your hormones at all but rather your stressful lifestyle that has created a cascade of imbalances in your body. Hormones are always downstream.

Women are not meant to live in chronic fight or flight.

Women are not meant to go-go-go all the time living in masculine energy 24/7.

Women no longer have community and support.

We no longer know what it means to relax and slow down.

We are no longer taking care of ourselves.

And in turn we put our health and well-being on the back burner.

We over-commit, our nutrition sucks, we constantly forget to eat, we don’t sleep well, everything seems like a burden, we get consumed in diet culture and do stupid things like starve ourselves, go on restrictive diets and over-exercise…

We seek quick fixes rather than doing the hard work to change our lives.

You get to choose your version of hard but spinning your wheels trying bandaids, diets and supplements to be left discouraged sounds a lot harder than taking care of yourself and getting your internal environment healthier to actually balance your hormone.

A few of the most important factors:

+ Sleep 7-9 hours every night
+ Eliminate endocrine disruptors – water, skincare, makeup and cleaning products
+ Eat a traditional, mineral rich diet, eat every 3-4 hours, combining carb, protein and fat
+ Get more in touch with your feminine – create slow mornings and evenings, cook all your meals at home, get out in nature, garden, show emotions, be creative, laugh, sing and play, and tune in to your menstrual cycle
+ Possibly address digestion, liver, thyroid, adrenals and minerals
+ Evaluate stressors to help your body feel safe

These are the things that matter.

Be honest with yourself.

Are your hormone issues really hormonal?

Or is it the life you are living?

A cup of Orange Juice a day keeps the doctor away

In a world where everyone on social media wants to blame fruit and carbs for every ailment under the sun I am here to tell you…

THERE IS ALWAYS MORE TO THE STORY.

It appears people are being fear mongered about carbs and fruit to the point that they are forgetting why they were eating fruit or drinking adrenal cocktails in the first place.

Don’t worry, I gotchu.

Citrus fruits have been used in folk medicine for the management of various diseases for decades and for a good reason.

Swipe through for some recipes and to learn about the benefits of oranges/ orange juice and honestly F anyone that want’s to tell you that you shouldn’t drink an adrenal cocktail or enjoy a piece of fruit because of *weight gain* or *diabetes*…

The literature proves otherwise.

The 4 functional lab tests I recommend every woman run as a yearly preventative

If you are over the age of 30 and consider yourself healthy as a horse (first off, you lucky duck) but second that does not exempt you from needing to do yearly check-ins on your health.

What is the saying?

If you don’t invest in your health now you will pay for it later.

Support your farmer. Not big pharma.

Our health is drastically declining as a nation due to our extremely toxic environment, lack of nutrients, stressful lifestyles, and poor diet choices.

I wish I didn’t have to say that yearly check-ins were necessary but they are.

Conventional care is only about diagnosis and symptom management.

With functional holistic care we peel back layers, we give you a blueprint of your current health, we understand that no person is the same and we understand the body works as a whole and everything is connected.

We understand that the body is influenced by our environments, stressors, diet and lifestyle.

We help bring your body back to it’s original design.

We ask WHY and HOW, we don’t settle for THAT’S JUST HOW IT IS.

We bring you hope and know true healing is possible.

We help you understand what is actually happening in your body.

Preventative care is worth the investment knowing without health, you won’t have life.

Health and happiness is your birthright.

***We offer a yearly preventative package in the Wild + Well-Fed membership along with the other functional labs mentioned. Link in bio to learn more or reach out to info@wildlyonswellness.com
