You walk into the doctors office and tell them you are having the typical thyroid symptoms of chronic fatigue, decreased ability to handle stress, cold intolerance, circulation issues, aches and pains, anxiety, depression, weight gain, fertility issues, slow speech, brain fog, problems utilizing carbs, hair loss and skin issues, constipation…
You name it. You check all the boxes.
Doc says, “hey let’s run some blood tests to assess what’s going on,” You leave the office happy as a clam on your way to get the blood draw thinking ‘YES finally! I am going to get some answers!’
You wait a week, you get your results back, just a few markers and only TSH to check thyroid and to your disbelief it’s in the “normal range”… The doc office calls to tell you everything is normal but your cholesterol is a bit high, limit red meat. Oh and make sure you get an appointment in 4 weeks.
You end the call disappointed and pissed off wondering what the hell is wrong with you.
Here’s the deal.
T4, T3 and Reverse T3 need to be assessed. T4 is the inactive form that needs to be converted to T3 the active form which is dependent on healthy liver and intestines. Most people can produce enough T4 but due to our overburdened livers and wrecked digestive systems can’t convert to T3 well. When the thyroid hormone is low, the pituitary makes TSH to compensate.
Physiologically speaking TSH shouldn’t need to be made in a healthy body.
The conventional TSH ranges are between 0.5-4.5. These ranges actually changed over time to being much higher to accommodate our health decline and to normalize hypothyroidism.
We are being prescribed T4 only medications which is the INACTIVE hormone and not addressing the conversion problem in the liver and intestines. This is why you can go on thyroid medication and never see a change in your symptoms or feel the FIRE with temps and pulses like you should.
Why are the liver and intestines are struggling?
Excess iron
Excess estrogen
Excess cortisol
Excess prolactin
Excess serotonin
Excess toxins
This is why running testing that looks at your entire body is necessary to determine WHY your thyroid is compromised in the first place.
